Type : Rum
ABV : 80
Producer : Haillmaile Distilling Co.
Country : United States

Description :

Sammy's Beach Bar rum is named for rock-and-roll music legend Sammy Hagar. He opened a restaurant chain called Sammy's Beach Bar & Grill in Maui and now a line of rum has been launched to complement the commercial success of the bar and grill. They claim to offer the "spirit of aloha." It is made with locally grown Maui sugar cane in the French "rhum agricole" tradition, which is a base of fresh-pressed sugar cane juice rather than molasses. It is aged for 2 years and then filtered to remove color and soften the taste.

While the marketing website mentions a local distiller (and indeed, the Tasting Panel Magazine (January, 2013) mentions the Haliimaile Distillery) as the producer, the filing with the Tax and Trade Bureau identifies California-based LeVecke Corporation as the producer, whom we have listed we here. We personally guess that the spirit is shipped in bulk and bottled in California. Update: in 2013, the TTB filing changed from California to Hawaii as the source for the rum, though still under the LeVecke name. This brings the press reports of a purely Hawaiian product, bottled and corked in Hawaii, consistent with the federal filings.
