Type : Scotch
ABV : 40
Producer : Alexander Macgavin Co. Ltd.
Country : Scotland
Size : 750ml
Description :

Alexander Macgavin Company is a listed on the label as the bottler, though there's little information about them. Our guess is that they're a bottler buying up stocks of whisky from the major distilleries and represent each as a regional bottling. If we're right, then "single malt" would mean a blend of regionally-specific single malt whisky but not from a single distillery (or, it at least gives them the freedom to switch sourcing distilleries, which would introduce some variability between bottlings).

They are a value buy and various blog reports suggest they're a good way to get introduced to regional differences in single malt scotch.

Macgavin's Highland single malt is, of course, from the Highlands region, suggesting a light peat smoke on the flavor profile characterized by fruity undertones.

The Highland Single Malt selected by our Master Distiller reflects the characteristics most often found in the single malts distilled in the Northern Highlands; complex aromas, slight saltiness, and a dry finish with a distant peaty character.
